Sustainable foods are produced with the future in mind. Using methods that support rural communities, treat animals fairly, are respectful of farm workers, and do not generate negative environmental effects, a sustainable way of farming, eating and living helps preserve our valuable natural resources for future generations.

Green Packaging and Recycling

We are always looking for new ways to minimize waste and reduce our ecological footprint. Our efforts have included eliminating plastic grocery bags, incorporating eco-friendly packaging throughout our stores, and discontinuing the mailing of weekly inserts, reducing paper usage by several hundred tons a year.

Animal Welfare Fish

From cage-free eggs and rBGH-free dairy products, to sustainably raised meats
and free-range poultry,we strive to provide foods that are produced in humane and environmentally friendly ways. Andronico’s is also a proud participant of FishWise, a program that helps to protect our oceans and fisheries by informing our customers about sustainable fish and seafood.

At Andronico’s, we love to eat locally whenever we can, and work hard to pass our local favorites along to you. Throughout our store, you’ll find delicious foods that are grown or made within 150 miles of our store—just look for the Buy Local shelf signs! Choosing locally made foods helps support the growers, producers and food-makers of our community; is an earth-friendly way to shop and eat, as local foods have a shorter distance to travel from source, to store, to table; and helps ensure that the food you bring home is as fresh, nutritious and flavorful as possible.

We are committed to supporting our valued customers in their efforts to make informed purchasing decisions and live greener lifestyles. Throughout our store, you’ll find helpful signs guiding you in your discovery of foods that are locally made, organic and organically grown, eco-friendly, bio-dynamically grown and Fair Trade certified, as well as other informational literature and environmentally-friendly programs developed with the protection and preservation of our planet in mind.
