Le Gruyère cheese has been produced since 1115 in the farming regions surrounding the lovely town of Gruyère in the Swiss canton of Fribourg, where the German and French languages, cultures and customs meet. A classic cooking cheese, preferred by all the great French Chefs, try it melted over a crusty onion soup, or in a Chicken Cordon Bleu. With emmenthal it makes the classic Mornay sauce or traditional cheese fondue.
